Club Service 1498th RWM The 1498th RWM was held on 18th June 26 at the Rotary Centre. President Rtn Col Ashok Gogoi presided over the meeting. The House took up discussion on the resignation of the Chess Coach Mr. Subham Rai. Club Service 1497th RWM The 1497th RWM was held at the Rotary centre on 11th June 26. The meeting was presided over by President Rtn Col Ashok Gogoi. During the meeting, PE Rtn Pravin Pradhan discussed the 34th Installation Program of RC Kalimpong was discussed. PE Rtn Pravin Pradhan discussed details of guests, the Duty Roster, logistics involved etc. AConducting a Chess Tournament for our trainee students on 21st June was discussed. Club Service 1496th RWM The 1496th RWM was held on 04 June 26 at the Rotary Centre Tapoban Kalimpong. The President Rtn Col AK Gogoi presided over the meeting. Wecoming the members, he thanked Rtn TT Bhutia for organising the educatrtional tour to Sevoke Rangpo Railway Project at Majitar. He also proposed that the officials of the railway project be invited to the Board Meeting on 28th Jun for felicitation. The proposal accepted by the House. Club Service 1495 Regular Weekly Meeting On 31st May, members and spouses of the Rotary Club of Kalimpong visited Tunnel No. 17 at Majitar, part of the Sevoke–Rangpo Broad Gauge Railway Project, an engineering marvel under construction in the Eastern Himalayas. The team was briefed at the project office by Mr. Sajjan Singh, Mr. P. K. Sahar, and Mr. Biswajit Dutta. The officials explained that the project was conceived in 2006, construction began in 2017, and completion is expected by December 2027. The 45-km railway line comprises 14 tunnels and 17 bridges, built through challenging mountainous terrain. Members were given a guided tour of a two-kilometre section of Tunnel No. 17 and the highest bridge under construction on the route. Future plans include extending the rail network to Gangtok and eventually Nathula Pass on the India–China border. The visit was an enriching and memorable experience, providing insight into a landmark infrastructure project that will greatly enhance connectivity in the region. Read More
